Reverend Jerry H. Dodd 1986 - 92

    A native of Cobb County, Reverend Jerry H. Dodd was educated in the Public School system. He served as a United States Army Paratrooper and is a Vietnam veteran. Reverend Dodd is a
graduate of Kennesaw State University with a degree in Accounting and Gwinnett-Hall Baptist College earning a degree in Christian Education.

    Presently, he is serving as Interim Pastor of Friendship Baptist Church in Toccoa, Georgia and is employed as a Freight Conductor for the Norfolk-Southern Railway. Prior to his call to Friendship, Reverend Dodd served as a Senior Associate Minister in the Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Roswell, Georgia.

    In 1979, Reverend Dodd assisted in the reorganization of the NAACP Cobb County branch. He was elected as president in 1986 and served three terms. During his presidency, the branch hosted the 46th annual Georgia State NAACP Convention, established the Cobb County Mass Choir, and held community prayer vigils in an attempt to eradicate drug trafficking in addition to numerous other community projects. Other organizational positions held during his 14 years of service were: Southeast Regional Education Legal Advisory Board member, Georgia's State NAACP First-Vice President, District Coordinator, Cobb County Branch Vice President and chaired various committees.
